In Memory Yet Green
When you are sorrowful, look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. ~ Kahlil Gibran

Sorrow you can hold, however desolating, if nobody speaks to you. If they speak, you break down. ~ Bede Jarrett

Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak whispers the o'er-fraught heart and bids it break. ~ William Shakespeare

Sorrow makes us all children again - destroys all differences of intellect. The wisest know nothing. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey. ~ Kenji Miyazawa

You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present. ~ Jan Glidewell

There are things that we don't want to happen but have to accept, things we don't want to know but have to learn, and people we can't live without but have to let go. ~ Author unknown

In the night of death, hope sees a star, and listening love can hear the rustle of a wing. ~ Robert Ingersoll

As long as I can I will look at this world for both of us. As long as I can I will laugh with the birds, I will sing with the flowers, I will pray to the stars, for both of us. ~ Sascha

Your reflections seem to suggest you have left the murky woods in the marshy valleys and are now looking down on them from the hill top.
Not the same person, but feeling better somehow.

Are you doing better again, hon?

Yes and no. This post is a way for me to take Shakespeare's advice until I can find more words of my own.

This Sunday will be my first Father's Day without my father. It's hard.

Father's Day. Aww, honey.
That will be a special day indeed.
Can you take Miyazawa's advice to heart?

And as for lending the Bard's words, *smiles* that you express yourself emotionally on LJ is a wonderous thing already, isn't it?

It will be wonderful to read you in your own voice in the future, though.
*no hurry*

I think I'm working on Gibran's first. And the unknown author's.

Like I said via AIM the other day on a related subject:

Just because he isn't here this year doesn't mean you can't celebrate for all the years that he was. It's Father's Day and he's still your father and there's nothing wrong in acknowledging that in whatever manner you feel best.

I plan to. That's part of what this post is about.
